or “I’m sorry”
may come too late –
while slipping out of this life
on your back

Don’t You Tell Me

April 11, 2006

don’t you tell me
what my soul is,

and is
not

claiming the boundless
as yours to
define

you know the unknowable
enclose the
divine

worship with delusion
only ours! is the way

call yourself a “believer”,
but only in
your
self

It is sad, these guys always claim to be (and are believed to be) righteous leaders. What can angry vindictive men tell us about forgiveness and love?

then turned to wish Laura a good night. Let’s see here, what did mister hot shot write, “We must become the change we want to see”… he repeated it to himself: “we must become the change we want to see”. He soon began to nod off. That night Washington D.C. slept under a bright harvest moon.

The next day George was to deliver an important speech. On his way to Arlington Cemetery he reviewed what to say and how to say it. Flags snapped lively on their poles as the cavalcade pulled into the secure area behind the stage.

When he took the podium the President looked confident. He knew everyone in attendance except the military families. The crowd quieted as he began his speech on the mission in Iraq.

During the speech they applauded often. He concluded by stating he was proud of those who helped him “rid Iraq of a regime which spied on its subjects and tortured its enemies.

After the applause ended, a military mother – too incensed by his hypocrisy- stood up upon her chair and shouted out to the President “Hypocrite! You do the same things!” He was already down the back steps and knew nothing of the incident. The mother was secured by the Secret Service. That night Washington D.C. slept under a bright harvest moon.

Poverty: A Quick Study

April 7, 2006

The wealthy Democrat and the rich Republican have more in common than the wealthy Democrat and the middle class Democrat. Never delude yourself otherwise. Politics is all about the preservation of the status quo. The status quo translates to golf club memberships, private school tuition, new BMWs for the kids, Colorado ski trips, vacation home with boat in New Hampshire, SUVs the size of Rhode Island, shares of Berkshire Hathaway, Talbots, and on and on and on. There is little difference between a Democrat’s mansion and a Republican one. It is all rhetoric. It is like the World Wrestling Federation with suits. At the end of the show, the wrestlers leave together  all richer while the fans leave together all poorer and most stupider.

A well researched compilation of statistics and theories on the causes of poverty.

For example:

The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined.

Three Richest People in the world in 2005 according to Forbes business magazine (in billions)

1. Bill Gates, United States,$46.5, Microsoft
2.
Warren Buffett, United States, $44, Berkshire Hathaway
3.
Lakshmi Mittal, India, $25, steel

That’s a total of 115.5 billion.
