How to be a devil – a participatory poem by agnes, jca, liquidquick, qazse, and twitches
August 27, 2006
wear a cape
look as if you can fly
wear gold and white
appear to be the main man
file your horns so they’re sharp
maintain an exotic sexual allure
accept first-borns and blood in your contracts
supernatural predator or REALLY bad sunburn?
write a play mocking god, cast yourself as lead victim
take the realm between realms,
littered with miracles
and poorly thought-out science
that forgets home,
theirs, yours-
heavenly court
with your secret throne.
support politicians who mind
everyone’s business but their own.
get someone to write you a poem.
paint your nails red. Eat the world.
Vote Republican.

I like the feel of your site. This post looks like fun. I thought I’d add some (if you wish):
take the realm between realms,
littered with miracles
and poorly thought-out science
that forgets home,
theirs, yours-
heavenly court
with your secret throne.

thank you to:
1. all you quick witted poets who contributed to the cause. I thought it turned out well.
2. all who stopped by to read it.
3. all who briefly considered making a contribution – hope you do so in the future.
The next participatory poem will be called a parent’s pledge and will deal with what is important to be a good parent.
If anyone has a suggestion or wants to start one spontaneously, fire away.
