faces

God does
not need
a face
We do
not need
a face
But there may
always
be
faces
to fill
wrestling with congruency
God does
not need
a face
We do
not need
a face
But there may
always
be
faces
to fill

“faces to fill” … wondering what that last line means. Care to explain? Or is that a lame thing to ask a poet?

there may always be
a human existence
through which spirits pass
there may always be
the suffering face of humanity
in need of love
there may always be
laughter and song
to give brave comfort

That is beautiful and uplifting – a slight contrast to your post, which seems a bit sad and weighed down by all those faces to fill. Sometimes I feel I’m more useful or have more purpose when I can fill someone’s need for love…perhaps *I* need a few faces to fill…

Thank you for the genuine comments. After I wrote the above response to twitches I too thought it to be more dynamic than the actual post. Thank you for pointing out the issue of weightedness. It helped me to see it in a better light. I think I will post the response poem also. But what to call it?
Regarding your thoughts about purpose, I agree. I believe that is why we are here – to help each other and complete one another through connectedness: no soul left behind…
