face to face

August 31, 2006

There may always be
a human existence
through which spirits pass.

There may always be
the suffering face of humanity
in need of love.

There may always be
laughter and song
to give brave comfort.

    I like the use of the word “may” suggesting that the opposite might also be true…but then again, I’m a pessimist.
