    It amazes me when adults are puzzled as to why so many kids resort to violence against others or themselves. “Where do they get such ideas? Why do they carry such rage within them?” Gee, I wonder…

    I am old enough to remember the University of Texas tower sniper and the first plane hijacking. They may not have been the “actual” first instances of such phenomena but they were the first to grab headlines. Soon we would have many random multiple killings and a plethora of hijackings…

    I realize that while our copycat nature is something to be mindful of – it is not necessarily a negative thing. Look at what can happen when people begin to speak truth to power. More begin to stand up. In a totalitarian society they are then shot down. In our modern neo-democracy they are merely ridiculed and portrayed as dangerous. (I say “merely” with tongue in cheek.)

    I admire your blog for its speaking of the truth as well as its artistry.

    And again, and again.

    Once, my friend Marti said all of us who “get it” should have special marks on our foreheads. Meaning, she was insightful into child and adolescent violence. In fact, she is an unusual and gifted therapist.
