capitalism
will implode

be humanscale.

I don’t want to be in the midst of it happening, but what a world it would be if we could all start with the necessities – housing, health care, food, education – and go from there…

  2. twitches Says:

    I like that word…humanscale…nice.

  3. qazse Says:

Heather – what about an in-home theater? tuition for private school? ranch doritos and monster trucks? What are you? a communist?

twitches – I do too. It is an engineering term which also is a philosophy articulated by a cornell professor named Kirkpatrick Sale.

  4. Naughty Heather Says:

Communist? No. I like my creature comforts too much! I am definitely a socialist.

Can’t we all just get along? 😉

  5. qazse Says:

Heather – seriously, I totally agree. When I get in my shower I think how lucky I am compared to most of the world. I think free-enterprise has served this country well. It is the corporation thing which I am mostly dubious about.

Most of these corporations are faceless, heartless, untouchable commercial structures/ processes which have a life of their own apart from humanity. They mass market and shape the market to fit their mass produced wares. Most of the money goes to marketing and less to value and relevancy.

I sometimes like to think of myself as a minimalist of sorts, but then I realize how frustrating it is to just lose the remote control, or fix a meal that can’t be microwaved…

yes, we have become more and more a part of the big motherboard. Big Motherboard encourages us to join in on the electronic “fun”. We become a switch.

PS; I think your comment could make a good poem about modern living.
