I heard “oral sex”

I heard “oral sex”
ten thousand times more
than “terrorism”.

I saw her face
ten thousand times more
than bin Laden’s.

If only it had been otherwise…

Is it us? and where we’re at, what we look for?
    Is it the media?
Who or whatever it is, have mercy on me.

christine, I agree, most of the media has the agenda of selling advertising – sex sells. But also, where was the loyal opposition (Republicans)? They were the ones who should have been talking about terrorism and bin Laden if the Democrats weren’t. Instead they played politics at the expense of the country. (Same as the Dems did when they gave Bush his war.)

    i agree with you.
It seems our “parties” are no longer in the business of representing the people and meeting their needs. Instead, they are sort of d-list celebs, trying to hang onto their jobs at the expense of those they are supposed to serve.
And the ability to focus on issues away from their lack is astounding.

Well said. Both the reporting of the inconsequential and our collective appetite for it never seem to wane. Never fails to frustrate me.

In a side note, I couldn’t help but think of a Jane Kenyon poem with that last line.

    Very well said…as always!

Christine – “Instead, they are sort of d-list celebs”, trying to hang onto their jobs…” AMEN!

Howard – I believe the educational process shapes us into it. We emphasize the inconsequential. It is less dangerous and downright nurturing to the status quo. PS: thanks for turning me on to Jane Kenyon.

Heather – thank you for the encouragement!
