It’s the story of the ages. What leader wants an educated population? Or a Non-sedated (TV) ambitious populous? I do not think there will ever be one, or the other.

c, scarier when you consider our infantile rush into everything digital. Instead of book burning it will be book deletion by programmed machines.
Polar, Regarding your first question I would say Obama and people like him in the tradition of Thomas Jefferson. However, those kinds of leaders are the exception, as you point out. Regarding the populous, yes – they may well be lost forever in a digital skinner box.
