This is a re-post from October 2006. I have been looking for the source of this photo. If you know please let me know. Thanks

  2. Powerful image (and words). You could also put McMansion, Cadillac Escalade, or designer clothes in the title.

    … a haunting image

johnnypeepers: sadly, we could go on and on with the list… And where does it end? Probably in my own refrigerator. I try to live a modest life style. But even then I live like a king compared to most.

Last year I worked a high school graduation party which priced out around $35 grand. I know the family to be decent people. They have been raised wealthy. Their privilege blinds them. They saw the pricey party as quite normal.

CC: There are several famous photos of starving children. The one with the little boy crouching in the dirt while a vulture stands watching and waiting is a truly disturbing image. This one above I had not seen before. The juxtaposition with the well resourced man seemed to be a good fit for the poem (which also takes advantage of contrast).

Thank you both for stopping by.

CC: PS – and I agree, the picture is sadly haunting.

I think these pictures challenge us to act or avoid. We mostly avoid. Most of us spend on cable before charity.
