i return
from no word spoken

like a cat
you gave up on.

out of the wood
into the day

tail dancing
with gratitude.

Exactly how my two rescue cats suckered me into taking them home.

Very nice piece. Calming with a surprise. Well wishes to you & give Buddy a biscuit from me.

to Paul and Polar (and the rest of you)

    like the full moon
    your presence takes me back
    to the old days:

    watching for comments
    like packages
    on the doorstep

    warm boxes, love boxes
    full of smart words
    hops and barley

    blogospherical
    legitimacy delivered –
    sphere cred – i belong!

    my blogroll is my we,
    a constellation of dreamers
    holding hands in space

thank you for holding my hand

aw. that’s the loveliest ode to the pleasure of the comment! xoxovvv (hugs, kisses and handholding)

Never give up on a cat… glad to see you back.

  5. howard Says:

i second the welcome back sentiment. the world feels just that much less screwed up when unwrapping one of your poems.

    PS to Polar

    How can one resist
    the lure of a kitty
    who wants to be picked

I gave Buddy a biscuit in your name. I felt like a missionary.

    Best

bloglily – Thank you! You were one of my very first commenters. You have always been so positive and sweet – an early inspiration and a treasured blog friend.

I feel like I have jumped back into a familiar and friendly lake where writing is swimming…

pauline – that is so true. We are sometimes cats hiding in our keyboards. Thank you for your continued friendship and regard. Your comments have always given me validation.

howard – when I think about it, your poetic comment could be said about all of us. A haiku, a picture of one’s garden, a recipe, a disclosure shared, a literary reference… it is all very humanizing. A profound thank you my Pennsylvania homeboy. I do think we should meet up some Tuesday night at For Pete’s Sake on South Front Street. My brother runs a Quizzo every Tuesday. (I could then hand deliver the written poems I had promised).

z-freek – you romantic polymath – thank you my friend!

    Hi qazse,

A little more, belated, appreciation for this poem. Besides its precise telling of a moment, it reminds me of a cat of three colors, Ginger, who adopted us in northern BC when I was a kid…

    Regards

  9. qazse Says:

Hey fencer, glad it brought you back to Ginger. Cats are such lovely creatures. I would guess you had some larger species of cat in the mountains of BC. Best.

PS – I recall you liking a poem I wrote about cats chasing fallen grapes on the kitchen floor, thinking them green mice.

  10. fencer Says:

    Hey qazse,

I like even your reference to that poem, quite an evocative image…

It seems like you’re back writing with renewed energy. Great!

    Regards

  11. qazse Says:

Hey fencer, Thank you! I am not sure how back I am. I think I will be back when I start visiting my blogroll. Best.
