Buddy Knows First

He leaps
from the couch
growls at the sky,
then looks back at me
as if
goodbye.
Banshee winds
burst forth
a blazing hell;
all we can do
is bark and yell.
The Earth now an ember
our spirits release;
another failed planet,
another failed “peace”.
