there is no place
quite like the other
each valley
each plain
each mountain
each plateau
each
with its own
land forms
life forms
weather
and light
encased in a shared
halo of air
we are binding this earth in asphalt.
binding
and branding
we block the night sky
with our signs.
from
above
we look
like fire

“The collection is available at Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel, Saks New York, and other boutiques… The piece shown here is the Olivia, it is made of hand cut feathers that are on a comb and sells for $575.”
Smells like aristocracy.

We heard oral sex
ten thousand times
more
than terrorism.
We saw her face
ten thousand times
more
than the evildoer.

unable to cross
synaptic divides
lay in piles of data
on the shoreline of consciousness
blame it on the killer eggs

Diner Diner burning bright
sober beacon
drunken night.
Java Java steaming hot
swore I wouldn’t
drink a lot.
Eggs Eggs slimy soft
all too soon
I send aloft.
Run Run for the door
retch my innards
to the floor.
Wake Wake tormented head
sweating gin
wish I were dead.

Poverty: A Quick Study
April 7, 2006
The wealthy Democrat and the rich Republican have more in common than the wealthy Democrat and the middle class Democrat. Never delude yourself otherwise. Politics is all about the preservation of the status quo. The status quo translates to golf club memberships, private school tuition, new BMWs for the kids, Colorado ski trips, vacation home with boat in New Hampshire, SUVs the size of Rhode Island, shares of Berkshire Hathaway, Talbots, and on and on and on. There is little difference between a Democrat’s mansion and a Republican one. It is all rhetoric. It is like the World Wrestling Federation with suits. At the end of the show, the wrestlers leave together all richer while the fans leave together all poorer and most stupider.

A well researched compilation of statistics and theories on the causes of poverty.
For example:
The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined.
Three Richest People in the world in 2005 according to Forbes business magazine (in billions)
1. Bill Gates, United States,$46.5, Microsoft
2. Warren Buffett, United States, $44, Berkshire Hathaway
3. Lakshmi Mittal, India, $25, steel
That’s a total of 115.5 billion.
